A young girl is killed at the beach in Malibu.
Professor Otto Lindsay (Jon Hall) suspects that it is some form of mutated fish.
However, his son Richard (Arnold Lessing), who was a good friend of the girl, thinks that it is a madman who has a grudge against Richard and his friends.
Soon the list of victims grows to include one of Rich's surfing buddies, Rich's bitchy stepmother Vicky (Sue Casey) and his friend Mark (Walker Edmiston) who was crippled in an auto accident.

Subject: Read Morgan as the sheriff
I recently met Read, and he is a great person. He and my mother were friends before he went to Hollywood. This movie was a hoot! Fun to watch someone you have met...

This is so terrible I could not finish it.

And no Candy Johnson. Too bad. Remember her? The perpetual dancing machine with the fringe go-go outfits?

I can play it just fine on this page in my browser, and it doesn't look the least bit green, either.

I saw many beach party movies back in the day, including those of the horror variety, and frankly none of them were memorable. They all featured teenagers much older than we were dancing, surfing, and making out. I may have seen this one, but I don't recall seeing any that were filmed in black and white. The best parts of them were the girls in bikinis, and this one has that in spades until the third act when the filmmakers had to do something about the plot.

This one features a funny monster, and good music. The movie is amusingly bad except the scene with the ventriloquist. That was just awful. The scientific exposition was especially funny to me. It included this statement in the first act:

"Well sheriff, It's not the claw print of any fish in this area."

Make sure to watch the trailer.

I downloaded the 700MB AVI file. The video was a little greenish, but otherwise good. The audio was clear.
